De aard van de angst. Theory of fear management.
Angst is iets vreselijks. Angst is alles.
Fears are very fearsome. Fears are afraid of strength, faith, hope, love, truth, harmony, joy, talismans, rituals, dreams, higher purposes and even of Nothingness.
You can't run from fear. Escape from fear kills immunity to fear, which is subjectively expressed in its growth. Fear must be destroyed by logic and truth, because fear is a lie. The real fear is not scary at all and quite safe.
A person gets used to everything. I was full of fears back in the days, then they got tired of me and left me. Pleasant cool indifference rejoices soul like a wind. Full of cold curiosity, I look at these fears running around and think which of them will get and destroy me first.
There is a kind of sports passion in it. I neatly turn from their persistent attempts to bite or even devour me. Strictly checked movements resemble a dance. It’s a game, but who will win it? This purely rhetorical meaningless question makes me feel nothing but curiosity.
Fear exhausts forces. Fear turns on the «you are food» biologic program. «Freeze and don’t move, you are about to be eaten. – Nature tells you – The weak is food of the strong, good predators have come to eat you, don’t resist»…
The world is very dangerous for the blind. The blind man will go and fall into a pit, which the sighted man will easily avoid. All your fears and anxieties are those of a blind man who cannot get around the pit.
Fear is a chemical reaction that occurs due to the release of hormones in the brain. Fear paralyzes the resistance of weaker individuals, it's a submission hormone. Evil and strong individuals cause the weaker individuals' desire to obey them. The excess of the testosterone hormone is characteristic of dominant individuals and makes them especially evil. Curiously, the weaker individual obeys from fear and the stronger one attacks.
When you meet evil, don't judge it, but love it. Judgment breeds fear and lies. Love breeds knowledge. Having known your enemy, you will learn how to protect yourself from him, and you will also be able to take the best of his properties for yourself.
Fear is what hinders growth. Fear is a lie and an illusion. If you get rid of lies and delusions, the fear will disappear, which will provoke explosive growth.
The state of dependence preserves the personality. To acquire the ability to grow, you need to get rid of all the helpers and saviors. It is terrible, of course, but this fear is an illusion.
Isaac Babel’s short story Di Grasso clearly illustrates the Zen concept according to which, if a room is dark, all you should do to remedy the situation is to turn the light on. Do what you are most afraid of, and this will instantly transform hell into paradise.
Parents should not quarrel and get angry in the presence of their children. Parental aggression immerses children in fear and makes them wicked, lazy and stupid… and they easily fall victim to vices.
Sometimes a person provokes diseases himself. Unsatisfied need for love or, for example, the need to get rid of fear can be the reasons. He falls ill to be cared for and loved more.
Sometimes a person falls ill to avoid fear linked with some important actions and moves. He needs to do something, but he is so frightened that he falls ill to get out of doing it.
I've noticed that once I get some fear within myself, many things go wrong and misfortunes follow me. As fear is like a smell that keeps good luck away from its owner. Fear is a bird of ill omen. And in order to bring good luck back and be aimed at victory, the first thing to be done is to overcome fears.
Fear is mobilization mode for the organism. Chronic and eternal fear is the mode of quick exhaustion and destruction of the organism that is also linked with catastrophic and unjustifiable energy waste.
The nature of all the fears is the same and they should be fought almost the same way. Love wins over fear. Laughter wins over fear. Being satisfied, fear dies. And there is a number of other standard techniques. But fear is sly, it aims to cheat and says: «Why would you kill me? I’m good»… It can be so… When fear is little, it is really good, like a little fluffy kitten. But when fear grows, it causes neuroses, neuroses cause vessel constrictions. Child neuroses lead to stutter, withdrawing in himself, psychological problems. Adult neuroses cause vessel constrictions and hormonal surges, that cause problems of digestive system, hormone system, neuromuscular and nervous systems ( i.e. everywhere up to stomach ulcer), thyroid problems, strokes and heart attacks.
The very first fear is the fear of death. There is nothing particularly bad about the fear of death as long as it remains within reasonable limits. However, it often grows to the point of producing phobias and paranoiac fears. Specifically, the fear of death is the root out of which all other fears grow. A tree has one trunk but many branches. There are fears of water, snakes, insects, rockslides, natural disasters, crowds, violence, attention and so on. First thing, you should overcome the fear of death. The easiest way to do that is to firmly believe that death does not exist or that there is reincarnation, the Garden of Eden…
Fear is extremely necessary and useful. Fear allows you to avoid stupidities, overcomes laziness, is a source of movement and keeps the internal monsters of the human soul at bay. Problems arise only when there is too much fear.
Think of it as a game, say, chess. Visualize your emotions as some abstract symbols, like red sensors that need to be pressed to be on. Fear, shame, guilt and embarrassment are just the red lights on the control panel that can be turned on and off.
Some emotions often hide other emotions. “I don’t want” and “I want”, “I like” and “I don’t like” are, as a rule, the consequences of deeper emotions such as fear, vanity and so on.
Not all fears should be overcome. Overcoming all fears is a very foolish thing. Many fears are quite useful and life-giving because they protect a man from excessive desires.
Fears often live in the past and you have to erase your past to kill them. However, fears sometimes live in the future too. In that case, it’s better not to look into the future.
Inside yourself there are many fears and hidden motives. If you become aware of them by lighting them up, they will disappear and will stop to unconsciously control your conscience.
Fear cannot be killed – it should be controlled by subjecting it to intelligence. Fear keeps a man’s internal monster at bay. The monster will achieve freedom if fear is killed altogether.

A mission is what helps with loneliness. If you have a mission in your life, you won’t fear loneliness, dejection or depression. When you have a mission, you won’t fear anything at all, because missions kill fear.
