A wise man is restrained in everything, even when running away  from fear or from the battlefield, he runs with restraint and great dignity.

What is panic?  Unrestrained fear.  The intemperate man runs away as fast as he can  from fear, and fears joyfully pursue him.  If a person showed courage and did not run away so quickly, fears would be afraid to pursue him so actively.

Run away slowly.  Stampede too inspires opponents and then they will long and joyfully pursue you.

Often the understanding is false.  Lying is dangerous.  It is better to say to yourself "I do not understand anything"  and act on the situation, than to understand falsely and act incorrectly.

They say that if a wild animal is not afraid of a person, then he is rabid.  Fearlessness is madness.  The absence of fear and overcoming it are different.

One of the manifestations of love is to leave a person alone in time.

I once learned that a gentleman has a handkerchief because it might be useful to another person.  This knowledge enlightened me.

Listening is a manifestation of love.  Listening is not passive, but very active. 

Straightforwardness is very similar to stupidity.  Straightforwardness is simplicity, simplicity seems crude.

Love is when you accept what you do not agree with and what you do not like.  Love is the fulfillment of the commandment "You shall love your enemy."  Loving someone you like and agree with is like loving a drug, it's passion and pleasure, not love.

Problems and failures give rise to the desire for overcompensation and push a person into the clutches of overkill, passions, vices, entertainment, etc.  It seems that the pleasures and pleasures of the passions give you value, and compensate for other problems.

Point out to a person his shortcomings and he will be offended by you.  This person is very proud and thinks of himself as ideal.  Proud people are very touchy.

Personal experience is the same as a paradigm, that is, it significantly restricts the review and shows only what corresponds to it.

You can not call a bad person just because he is different and his values do not coincide with yours.

I thought about pleasures.  There are infinitely many pleasures, they are all very different.  Why do we want those pleasures that are not?  Why do you want new pleasures?  Why do we consider some pleasures higher and better than others?  When I realized that all pleasures are equal to each other, it became easier for me, envy and greed left me.  In any situation, I can find pleasure.

If you treat pleasures without greed and are content with what you have, you will find that you are surrounded by an infinite number of available pleasures.  They say the meaning of life is pleasure.  This is a very accessible meaning of life.  Everything is fun, you can enjoy absolutely everything.

There is no point in running for pleasure.  Pleasures themselves run after you.  With pleasures there is a problem of self-restraint.  The point is to take a little bit and say "enough".  Too much pleasure is a poison that creates suffering.

To see the light, one must become the light.

What is sight?  Connection of eye and light.

If you're really attracted to another person, don't try to control them or want more from them than you already have.  Just enjoy having that person around, knowing that you know them and that they exist.

Try to talk to people in such a way that they like themselves when they talk to you.  If you like them, they'll like themselves. 

The perfection of man is connected with the absence of a gap between words and deeds.

Your   passion   is   trying   to   lick   honey   off   a   razor   blade.   When   contemplating   your   passion,   you   realize   this,   the   passion   will   instantly   disappear.
