Stoicism doesn't espouse inactivity or nihilistic humility, but it espouses emotionlessness and composure. "Suffer little - it says. "Fewer emotions, more actions, more meaningful movements. Active emotionlessness, do what you should and come what will".
The essence of stoicism is to reduce the amplitude of the swing of emotions. Less joy, less pain. The smaller one extreme, the smaller the opposite extreme.
The Stoics urged to accept all this, to where we are helpless otherwise, and you'll depression, sadness and suffering. Failure to accept the inevitable plunges a person into hell.
Anyone who does not retreat will reach the goal and we do not know those who could not. But those in whom there is no love will perish. Love is dream and hope, faith and perseverance, miracle and God.
It is not because it is difficult that we dare not, but because we dare not. Have you ever seen anyone try and fail? Everyone who couldn't, didn't try.
